Here’s what many consulting business owners do when they have multiple skill sets:
They offer multiple services too soon.
They think they’re hedging their bets by offering multiple services. They feel that offering many different services gives potential clients choice. After all, who doesn’t like choice?
But here’s what actually happens: most of those services don’t sell consistently, if not at all.
They look great on a website or brochure and make your business look larger than it actually is, but don’t drive revenue as expected.
The reason most services don’t end up selling? There could be many, but more often than not, there isn’t a clear market need for the services. Or there is a need but the services aren’t promoted well enough (because you’re simply spread too thin).
What’s the alternative?
In a nutshell, you’ve got to make choices and think like a ___________.
