How do you know if your content is being read by your ideal clients?
Especially on LinkedIn, and especially if you have a niche audience. If the algorithm has stopped working for you like before, how can you reliably tell if your content is reaching the right people?
LinkedIn gives you impressions and views data, but you can’t really tell how many of those fit your ideal client profile. Even though LI’s analytics have gotten slightly better with industry, seniority info, etc., it still doesn’t tell you everything.
So here’s how I’ve actually started measuring reach (on LinkedIn and beyond) 👇
👉 DMs and conversations that turn into real interactions
👉 Engagement (likes, comments) from people who fit my ICP
👉 Private community engagement
👉 Email opens from ICPs
👉 Webinar attendees
If I’m consistently reaching 300–400 ideal clients a month through these channels, I’m good. If 3% are in-market, that’s 9-12 qualified leads per month. I don’t need more.
It’s not a perfect system, but it works for me.
So, if you’re wondering how to increase your content’s reach, the real question now isn’t “how do I grow my impressions or views?”
It’s: “how do I get more of the right people to consume my content?”
That’s a much better use of energy than chasing top-of-funnel vanity metrics.
