In a recent client community call, I posed two questions to my clients. I thought they might be helpful for you too.
I found them useful for reflecting on 2025 and I’ve shared my own answers below.
If you want, you can share yours in the comments. Or simply take a few minutes to reflect on these questions as you move into 2026.
👉 Question 1: What actually worked for you this year, even if it was slower or smaller than you expected?
For me, revenue recovered.
Last year took a hit after changes to the LinkedIn algorithm. I wasn’t prepared for it, and it hurt. Midway through last year, I changed my tactics. Those changes started paying off this year.
Revenue is now back to where it was a couple of years ago. More importantly, the system feels more predictable. That gives me confidence going into 2026.
Another thing that worked was delegating more.
I hired more team members this year than ever before, and that decision has paid off by freeing up my time to focus on higher leverage work.
👉 Question 2: What are you deliberately leaving behind in 2025 because it distracted you, drained you, or didn’t move the needle?
Early in the year, I experimented with a cold email approach.
I went into it consciously as an experiment. I wanted to understand what was happening in that channel. The result was clear for me. It didn’t align with how I want to build relationships or attract clients. I’ve pulled the plug on it.
Going forward, my focus is on warm outreach, thought leadership, and live events. That path is very clear to me now.
The second thing I’m leaving behind is poor planning that pulls me into low leverage work.
Even though I advise clients to focus on high yielding activities and delegate the rest, I found myself doing too much of the small stuff because I planned too late.
This year, I hosted the Future of Consulting Summit in early November, attended in person conferences mid November, and ran a weekend boot camp in early December. That entire stretch was exhausting. I barely slept, and for weeks I felt constantly drained.
Looking into 2026, I’m planning much further ahead and protecting my recovery time. If your health and energy aren’t taken care of, what’s the point of building a business in the first place?
If you’re reflecting on 2025, take a few minutes to write down your answers to these two questions.
You can share them here, or simply use them as a quiet reset as you step into 2026.
