I’ve only had a corporate job once in my life and here are the 3 biggest advantages I found in having one: direction, accountability and the opportunity to interact with peers.
Your manager provides direction, systems keep you accountable and you’re always interacting with peers and comparing notes on performance and progress.
Unfortunately, as business owners, we don’t have such structures baked into our work. And it’s easy to ignore these structures and operate your business without them because nobody tells you that you need them.
And this could lead to you being blindsided and ending up making bad decisions for your business.
So please, in 2023, resolve not to go through this journey alone. Create a peer group of your own, or join a community of like-minded business owners or hire a coach or a mentor to guide you. Do what you feel is right for you, but don’t do this alone.
As the African proverb goes, if you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.
