Consultant,
What can you do to shortcut the path to prospecting success?
It goes without saying that prospecting is hard to do consistently when you already have client deadlines to deal with.
Even if you set aside time, how do you know what tactics will work?
For most consultants, working your network + creating and sharing thought leadership content online works extremely well. B2B buyers predominantly start researching and learning online.
But there are outliers, too.
I’m not one of those people who dismisses old school tactics such as cold calling, direct mail and other offline strategies. For some consultants, they work. It depends on where their audience hangs out. If their audience is not predominantly online, then they will have to be reached using different methods.
My point is that the prospecting tactics and methods you choose depend on who you’re targeting.
Based on who you’re targeting, decide your approach and then start experimenting in a structured manner. There’s no other way to find out what exactly will work for you and your business.
As you can tell, this process takes time. So, back to the original question above:
What can you do to shortcut the path to prospecting success?
My answer: get help, i.e. hire a mentor/coach/expert who has helped businesses like yours before to prospect successfully.
You can read all the books, watch YouTube videos, attend webinars and try to do this on your own. It’s definitely possible to be successful on your own but it will take you longer.
What would getting results 6 to 9 months faster mean for your business?
That’s the difference between going it alone and hiring someone with a structured process who’s done it before.
